Kimberly and Camilla's Story

Ronald McDonald House Tamworth became home

Kimberly and Camilla's Story

Kimberly and husband Andrew didn’t think they were going to be travelling from their farm in Bundella to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital over the Easter Long Weekend.  But at 39 weeks pregnant and Kimberly showing early signs of labour, the trip was required.  “Being 2 hours from home, I was so relieved to be able to stay at Ronald McDonald House Tamworth, close to Kimberly” Andrew said.

With their two other children, Lachlan and Elanor back at home on the farm, and Kimberly’s labour not progressing after one night they returned home under strict instructions to come back if labour started.

Just 7 days later they made their return trip and welcomed their third child, baby Camilla. “It was so great to know when we were driving back up to the hospital in Tamworth that Andrew could stay close by at Ronald McDonald House. With times really tough at home with the drought, it was a huge relief to not have to worry about accommodation. It is a wonderful facility and really helped us.”

After 5 days at Ronald McDonald House. Kimberly, Andrew and Camilla were able to return back home to Bundella thankful for their “home away from home”.
