Visiting the Family Room

Take a break and be together as a family at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Mackay Base Hospital.

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child in hospital. Step away from the clinical environment of the Hospital, and into our inviting Family Room, where there’s a fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom, laundry facilities and quiet rooms for rest and reflection. Our Family Room has both an indoor play area, complete with toys, boardgames and videogames, where kids can take some time out and have fun.

Our Team

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is run 100% by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Eligibility

We want to make sure families have a home-away-from-home inside the Hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Room was purpose built for the free and exclusive use of parents, carers, guardians and their families who have children undergoing inpatient or outpatient treatment at the Mackay Base Hospital.

Fees

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are free of charge. Thanks to our generous sponsors and donations from the local community, families have a space away from the wards to recoup and simply be together.

Host a fundraiser

We welcome support from businesses and corporates who wish to embark on a fundraising exercise for Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia. The main thing here is to host events that you find FUN! These activities may include but are not limited to: gold coin days, quiz nights, silly sock days, corporate golf days, fashion shows, talent nights, ladies days, coffee mornings, raffles, auctions and so forth. We would love to hear any ideas of your own!
