Visiting the Family Room

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Sunshine Hospital is currently closed. 

Take a break and be together as a family at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Joan Kirner Women and Children's Hospital.

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child in hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room, where you’ll find kitchen and bathroom facilities, complimentary refreshments, comfortable family lounge and dining area and space for the kids to play.

Our Team Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is run by a dedicated team of volunteers, that are ready to reach out with a helping hand whenever things get a little tough. 

Eligibility 

We want to make sure families have a home-away-from-home inside the Hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Room is free and open to all families whose children are undergoing inpatient or outpatient treatment at Western Health.

Family Room Facilities

We’ve made our Family Room as homely as possible. That’s why you’ll find a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and complimentary tea, coffee and snacks, and comfortable family dining area. We have a cosy lounge with a TV and a rapid charge point for your devices, plus a place for the kids to play, stocked with plenty of books, toys and games for all ages. It all goes towards making the time your family spends in hospital just that little bit easier.

Kitchenette

We’ve made our Family Room as homely as possible. That’s why you’ll find a kitchenette with a microwave and a supply of tea, coffee and basic essentials, a fridge for storing your own food and a microwave for heating up meals.

Lounge Area

Our relaxing lounge area contains free computers for your use with complimentary wi-fi.

Play area

Our play area provides your kids some much needed space to play, and an assortment of toys, books and games for all ages.

Family Room Programs

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms rely on the work of our volunteers and the financial support of individual and corporate donations.
