Visiting the Family Room

Take a break together at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room offers respite for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child in hospital. Step away from the ward and into our Family Room, where you’ll find full kitchen and bathroom facilities, complimentary refreshments and a comfortable family lounge and dining area to relax.

Our Team

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is run by a dedicated team of volunteers, all under the leadership of our Program Manager – Family Room and Volunteers, Dianne Mangley.

Eligibility

We want to make sure families have a home-away-from-home inside the Hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Room is free and open to all families whose children are undergoing inpatient or outpatient treatment in the Paediatric Ward of the Royal North Shore Hospital.

Fees

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are free of charge. Thanks to generous donations, families have a space away from the wards to relax and simply be together. If you would like to offer support or make a donation of goods to our Family Room, please contact our House.

Family Room Facilities

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child in hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where there is a kitchen, bathroom and shower facilities. For the comfort of our families, we have a cosy lounge area, as well as space for the kids to play. By giving your kids some much needed space to play, we’re making the time your family spends in hospital just that little bit easier.

Kitchen

We’ve made our Family Room as homely as possible. That’s why you’ll find a kitchenette with a microwave and a supply of tea, coffee and basic essentials, a fridge for storing your own food and a microwave for heating up meals.

Lounge and Dining area

Sit at our dining table enjoying a freshly baked slice of cake or muffin made with love by our volunteers or read a book on our cosy lounge – we love visitors, that’s why we are here!

Bathroom facilities

Our bathroom includes a shower and toiletries to freshen up after a long day.
