Staying at the house
Ronald McDonald House Perth Children’s Hospital gives seriously ill children the best gift of all – their families. Our warm and supportive home-away-from-home provides the whole family with a comfortable place to stay and peace of mind, knowing they can stay together, within their child’s hospital.
We are one of the few Ronald McDonald Houses located within the hospital building itself. We are a small but comfortable and modern facility, with Queen-sized, ensuite rooms and a large communal living are allowing parents to socialise with other guests and benefit from the company and support of our friendly volunteers, who are always happy to lend a helping hand.
Our Team
Our tirelessly dedicated team of staff are guided by our Operations Manager Courtney Kennedy. Our House also relies on a committed group of volunteers who generously give their time to make our families feel welcome and supported.
Who’s eligible to stay with us?
Keeping the family together can be extremely tough without support, which is why we offer accommodation for parents of critically unwell and palliative patients, breastfeeding mothers of sick babies, Royal Flying Doctor Service unplanned admissions, parents of transplant patients and those from rural and remote areas.
Fees
Ronald McDonald House understands that being away from home for long periods of time can put families under financial pressure. That’s why our accommodation is free for eligible families of seriously ill children.
While our policy is to provide free accommodation, your stay at the House may require you to claim financial support towards accommodation and travel from the relevant government transport assistance scheme in your home state. Our friendly team are happy to work with you to apply for the relevant financial support.
To find out if you’re eligible for government financial assistance, contact your hospital social worker or talk to one of our team.
Want to know more?
Being forced to move your family far from home, work, school and your entire support network due to a child’s illness is extraordinarily tough. Our House has a wonderful community spirit, where you’ll be able to connect with other families going through experiences similar to your own.
Depending on your needs, you may also be able to transfer to a room at the much larger Ronald McDonald House Nedlands, which is located across the road from the hospital campus, a 300m stroll away.

House Facilities
While there’s no place like home, we do our best to create an environment that’s as homely as possible.
Whether you’ll be staying with us for just a couple of nights or have many months ahead of you, our house functions as a real home, with everything you need to get through trying times together.
Each of our 14 family rooms is furnished with a queen bed and includes an ensuite bathroom and flat-screen TV.
Living and dining room
Our large, open living and dining room offers a bit of relief from the sometimes claustrophobic nature of the wards. Our daily complimentary breakfast is served communal-style in the dining area. Designed as a social space, parents can come here to gain comfort and support from other families, many who are going through tough times, just like you. It’s also a place to take a precious spare moment to unwind, get comfortable on our cosy lounges and catch a spot of telly on the big screen.
Laundry
So you can keep up with your washing duties without having to leave the hospital, we have a fully-equipped laundry adjacent to the accommodation wing, exclusively for the use of parents and carers.
Staff/volunteer support
Whether you need help with a particular task or issue, have a question about our facilities or just need a caring someone who will listen without judgement, our staff and volunteers are there to support you in any way they can. We have staff members and volunteers at the House between 9am and 9pm every day. Our wonderful volunteers give their time and energy to help keep things neat and organised, check in on guests and make themselves available for any assistance you might require.
Computer station
We have two computer stations for the use of our guests. Make use of our complimentary wifi to keep in touch with home through Skype and social media and stay on top of practical matters like e-mails, filling out leave forms and paying bills.
House Programs
Ronald McDonald House Perth Children's Hospital relies on the work of our volunteers and the financial support of individual and corporate donations.
Without their generous contributions, we would be unable to keep our doors open to families in need 365 days a year. Thanks to the public, we’ve been able to continually expand our operations to help more families.
There are many ways you can contribute to Ronald McDonald House Perth Children's Hospital.
