Ronald McDonald House Westmead

Greater Western Sydney Chapter

Located at 1 Labyrinth Way, Westmead, Ronald McDonald House Westmead has 60 rooms to accommodate families.

RMHW is part of the Greater Western Sydney Chapter, and a place where families can remain connected, and parents and carers can better communicate with their child's medical team to keep up with the often complicated treatment plans needed.

Families can give each other with the moral and emotional support to get through their child’s illness. They can form relationships with other parents who are going through same or similar experiences and staff and volunteers will provide care and support throughout the stay, no matter how short or long.

A communal kitchen, dining room and lounge room with a wrap-around veranda, laundry facilities and gardens, directly located within the grounds of the Hospital for the convenience of being close to your child at all times.

Reception area

Upon arrival to the House, families will be met by our friendly Family Ambassadors to assist with checking in, completing any paperwork and getting settled in the House.

Staying with Us

We understand that sometimes the whole family wants to be by their child’s side durng a child’s illness, and sometimes only a parent, carer or the sick child will need to stay.

We now have 60 rooms, varying in size and features, to ensure we can cater for families of all sizes. Each of our light-filled rooms comes complete with a private ensuite for an added sense of privacy, top of the range Sealy beds, a TV and DVD player, and free Wi-Fi.

Kitchen and Dining

The House offers families access to 6 kitchens – each with gas cooker, oven microwave, dishwasher and more. Additionally, every family has their own fridge, freezer and lockable pantry space allocated to their room.

Our communal dining area is fitted with all the creature comforts of home with large dining room tables, hardwood floors and a large fireplace - perfect for cosying up with a warm cup of tea in winter!

Families are welcome to sit together, or to join others in sharing a home-cooked meal (provided by fabulous community volunteer groups on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays through our Meals From The Heart Program).

Living areas

Our lounge room has a few seating areas where families can relax and put their feet up. Watch TV on the big screen, enjoy a movie, sit and read quietly whilst your children play dress ups in the play area or enjoy a few gaming hours on our two games consoles. It's a place to unwind and relax.

We all know washing is a chore that every parent has to do, so we have four laundry rooms in the House, each with a number of washing machines and dryers for the convenience of doing your own washing and washing bed linen and towels throughout your stay. We also have a clothesline in our back garden for those of you who like to clear your head a bit, in the sunshine, hanging out your washing.

Our verandah wraps around the entirety of the House, overlooking landscaped gardens and playground facilities.

The garden is a warm, welcoming communal area fit for play, family BBQ's, a quiet meal, a place to enjoy the sunshine or just as a place to relax on a balmy summer evening. And who could forget the Transformer Garden - a place that brings delight to big kids and small ones when they first see it!

Accessible bathroom

To ensure we can support everyone’s accommodation needs, we have a large disabled bathroom which is fully functioning, wheelchair accessible and has a shower chair and wheelchair commode. Unfortunately, we are not able to supply any lifting mechanisms.

Learning Centre

The House has a dedicated Learning Centre offering activities complementary to schooling, to keep kids engaged in their learning while they are staying at the House. Click through to find out more about the Learning Centre and Education Services.

Located on the top floor of Ronald McDonald House Westmead, the fitness centre includes cardio equipment, free weights, a multi-gym machine and plenty of room to stretch out so parents and children aged 16 and older can maintain fitness, manage stress and support their mental and physical health.

Spending long hours in an uncomfortable waiting room can add unnecessary stress to an already emotional time for families with seriously ill children. Our Ronald McDonald Nepean Family Room offers a warm and inviting space to help get away from it all, even if just for a little while.

The Nepean Family Room is located within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nepean Hospital, Kingswood, NSW.

Family Room

The Family Room provides a kitchen, lounge and dining area, play area, a mother’s room and a quiet room. Here, families can take a break, have a cuppa, or heat up a meal in the Room’s warm, homely environment 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
