Ronald McDonald House Monash is a purpose-built home-away-from-home with all the comforts you’d expect.
We understand the needs of each individual family are different and our House caters for this. We offer private rooms when you want to get away and communal areas such as the kitchen and play room where guests have the chance to enjoy a home cooked meal, meet other families and share experiences and support.
Family members come and go at different times, fitting in with hospital appointments. Meals are eaten at different times, yet somehow the kitchen remains constantly clean and ready for action.
Each family has fridge, freezer and pantry space and we have a fully stocked communal fridge and pantry. Our kitchen is fully equipped with residential ovens, microwaves, gas cook tops, and all the usual crockery and utensils.
Tea, coffee, Milo, milk, bread and Popcakes are complimentary.
Our freezer is fully stocked with emergency meals for families at the end of an exhausting day at the Hospital.
Our Kitchen is proudly adopted by Steggles Charity Nest.
Our Children’s Playroom is a fun space filled with books and toys where the kids can just be kids. There is a Wii and Play Station as well as DVDs and puzzles to keep children entertained for hours.
In 2014 our Playroom had a much-needed refresh with a fresh coat of paint and new carpet donated by Carpet Country Traralgon.
Our Children’s Playroom is proudly adopted by Stillwell Motor Group.
Our two laundries are fully equipped with washing machines, clothes lines and dryers for guest use. Washing powder, ironing boards and irons are provided.
All facilities are complimentary.
There are 3 cosy lounges throughout the House for families to relax and share some family time. Sit and watch some Foxtel, play a board game and curl up on our Lay-Z-Boy couches.
One lounge has complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.
The House has full wheelchair access including ramps within the House and shower with wheelchair access. We also have an electric hoist and slings for bath use.
One of our guest bedrooms also has full wheelchair access including ensuite.
COURTYARD AND BBQ FACILITIES
Our courtyard provides a quiet space to sit in the sunshine and read a book or for the children to ride a bike. Our BBQ facilities are great for families in the warmer months.
This area is also wheelchair accessible.
There are 13 comfortable bedrooms and two self-contained units within the House, all with new mattresses donated by Sealy.
Most bedrooms have ensuite facilities. Currently four bedrooms are sharing two bathrooms, however we are planning to renovate to give each of these rooms a private ensuite in the near future.
Ceiling fans and hydronic heaters are fitted in each room.
We provide all linen necessary for each family stay including linen changes. Families are not required to launder their own room linen.
The self-contained units have a separate bedroom, small living area and kitchenette. These rooms are primarily used for families of patients with low immune systems or long stay families.
The following items are available on loan for families staying at the House:
Port A Cot
- Emergency toiletry kit
