Ronald McDonald House Canberra welcomes families who live more than 100kms away and whose child needs to undergo treatment at The Centenary Hospital for Women & Children or The Canberra Hospital. 

 

CRITERIA TO STAY

The following admission criteria are listed in order of priority, ‘A’ having the highest priority.  This serves the purpose of ensuring that families with the greatest need for accommodation are given priority.

A - A family (Parent(s)/Guardian(s) & siblings) of a child admitted as an in-patient at The Centenary Hospital for Women & Children or Canberra Hospital.

B - Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of a child admitted as an in-patient at The Centenary Hospital for Women & Children or Canberra Hospital.

C - An antenatal women and her support person being treated as an outpatient in The Centenary Hospital for Women & Children.

D - Parent(s) or Guardian(s) (including siblings) of a child being treated as an outpatient with a current Doctor's referral.

 

ACCOMMODATION & COST ASSISTANCE

Accommodation is provided for family members or carers who will be directly involved with the daily support of the patient. In addition to the patient, the number of siblings permitted for any one stay is limited to two. If the patient is required to stay as an outpatient at Ronald McDonald House - only one other sibling can stay overnight. 

Families who live over 100kms from The Canberra Hospital are eligible to have room payments covered by Isolated Patient Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS). To receive the IPTAAS subsidy scheme you must;

•    Live over 100kms from The Canberra Hospital;

•    Stay more than three (3) nights at Ronald McDonald House Canberra; and

•    Ensure all the IPTAAS forms are completed & returned to staff at chck-in.

Less than 3 nights – to be paid by guest & is claimable directly back from IPTAAS

$43 per night

More than three nights

No cost - pending IPTAAS approval. IPTAAS approval must be received within 72hrs of your arrival.

Please note Ronald McDonald House Canberra has 2 single rooms and 9 double rooms. We will endeavour to accommodate the needs of families wherever possible however this will be subject to availability. Any concerns regarding payment during your stay need to be addressed on arrival.
