RMHC North Australia are the first to operate two RMHC Hospitality Carts. Located at Mount Isa and Townsville Hospital. Since launching in 2019, the RMHC Hospitality Carts have supported the needs of more than 1,175 families, helping make hospital life a little more bearable.
The RMHC Hospitality Cart supports the Paediatric Ward and Special Care Nursery in Mount Isa, and in Townsville, the Paediatric Ward, Paediatric Oncology Day Unit, Paediatric Emergency Room & Waiting Room, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Special Care Nursery. The program aims to address the needs of seriously ill children and their families by providing practical support and comfort. The RMHC Hospitality Cart offers boredom-busters, practical care items like toiletries, and snacks and beverages to seriously ill children and their families, as well as social and psychological support. Children can take part in arts and crafts activities, get lost in a good book, and enjoy a range of entertainment along with their siblings and parents. Our incredible volunteers are to thank for offering their time to stock the cart, deliver the goods, and consistently check-in with sick children and their families, to ensure they have everything they need.
