Visiting the Family Room
Take a break and be together as a family at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at The Northern Hospital, Melbourne.
Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child in hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where you’ll find kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities as well as space for the kids to play.
Eligibility
We want to make sure families have a home-away-from-home inside the Hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Room is free and open to all families whose children are undergoing inpatient or outpatient treatment in the Children’s Ward or Special Care Nursery at The Northern Hospital.
Fees
Ronald McDonald family Rooms are free of charge. Thanks to generous donations, families have a space away from the wards to recoup and simply be together.

Opening Hours:
Our doors are open to eligible families with swipe access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our volunteer staff is on-hand the day to provide assistance and support to our families during their time in hospital.

Family Room Facilities
We’ve made our Family Room as homely as possible. That’s why you’ll find a kitchenette, comfortable lounge, dining and play area as well as bathroom and laundry facilities, so that the time your family spends in hospital is just that little bit easier.
Kitchenette and Lounge
Our kitchenette contains a fridge, microwave and complimentary tea, coffee and snacks, and a comfortable lounge with a TV, sofa and charging station.
Dining area
A family-sized dining table is available for enjoying your own brought-in meals.
Bathroom facilities
Our bathroom includes a shower and free linen for freshening up, as well as convenient laundry amenities and washing powder.
Play area
Our play area provides your kids some much needed space to play, and an assortment of toys, books and games for all ages.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms rely on the work of our volunteers and the financial support of individual and corporate donations.

Make a donation
