Ways to Help
There's a reason volunteers are called "the Heart of the House". Without the contributions of volunteers, housing, supporting and caring for families during their toughest times simply wouldn't be possible.
"IN GIVING BACK TO PARENTS AND SICK CHILDREN, I HAVE GAINED MORE THAN I HAVE GIVEN, MET SOME WONDERFUL PEOPLE AND MADE TRULY GREAT FRIENDSHIPS"
– WESTMEAD VOLUNTEER
Did you know: one of the volunteers at Ronald McDonald House Westmead loves helping families so much that she has been dedicated to serving them for 26 years! Another group of friends have been volunteering for 16 years.
In 2018, as the Nepean Family Room continues to offer 24-hour support to families, 7 days per week, and with the larger Westmead House now open, the need for volunteers is greater than ever.
Luckily, there is a range of volunteering opportunities for both individuals and groups to give their time and help seriously ill children and their families.

CURRENT ROLE VACANCIES
Ronald McDonald House Westmead is searching for Volunteers to donate their time across a range of roles in the House, from Family Ambassadors to Housekeeping.
Family Ambassadors provide daily support at our welcome and reception desk. They are a welcoming presence within the house, a smiling face and listening ear for the families. Family Ambassadors ensure all families are given a full orientation to our house to support and welcome them to their home away from home, as well as taking care of general administration duties.
Housekeeping Volunteers support the daily functions of our House, including checking and cleaning rooms to ensure they are ready for a new family to check in, and putting welcome packs and presents for kids into the rooms. Housekeeping Volunteers also work with the housekeeping team to provide a safe and clean house for the families, tidying communal kitchens, dining, lounge and play areas. It’s a hands-on role, that includes liaising with families during their time of need.
Ronald McDonald House Weatmead is in need of helping hands to assist with the every day operations of the House, our Family Room, and fundraising events.

MEALS FROM THE HEART
It's easy to take the simple act of cooking at home for granted. Meals from the Heart provides a much-needed service to families staying at Ronald McDonald House Westmead who are supporting a seriously ill child. After a long day in the wards or clinics, they simply do not have the time, funds or energy to prepare a healthy, home-cooked meal.
Together with friends, colleagues or clients, why not make a meaningful difference in the lives of seriously ill children and their families by preparing and serving a home cooked meal for all families staying in the House?
Each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, corporate, community and social groups step into the kitchen to take part in making the House a home for families
Many hands make light work, and at Ronald McDonald House Westmead this is more important than ever! Each and every week, there are vital operational, maintenance and event support tasks that need to be completed to keep the House up and running.
The Working Bee program provides corporate and community organisations with the opportunity to engage in a broader partnership, by rallying a team of staff or members to attend the house for a hands-on volunteering day.
This unforgettable hands-on experience is youe opportunity to take on meaningful tasks ranging from administration, housekeeping and gardening, to house maintenance or event preparations that ensure the House remains open and functional for the seriously ill children and their families who need its help.
