Everyone who contributes to Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland plays a vital role in what we do. Without them we would not be able to help the families who stay with us.


Our volunteers are the heart of our programs at Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland. The families we help require a wide range of services and support which is why we rely on Volunteers with many different skills that can help us meet their needs. We depend on our team of dedicated volunteers to help us run our programs and support families going through some of the toughest times. Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland has a selection of diverse and rewarding volunteer opportunities across our programs to suit your interests and meet the needs of seriously ill children and their families.

We have over 30 different volunteer positions in areas such as:

  • Guest Services Support
  • Learning Program Support
  • Child & Family Entertainment
  • Event Support
  • Cooking/ Baking
  • Family Room Supervisor
  • Friends Committee
  • Cleaning /Gardening
  • Fundraising Support

Volunteers have the choice of working in Brisbane at the South Brisbane House, Herston House, within our facilities at Queensland Children’s Hospital, Learning Program or in the Family Rooms at Gold Coast University Hospital. No matter the role, our volunteers make a valuable contribution. When you volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland, you become part of a global community which is recognised and admired throughout the world.

Ian Mansfield 

Ian Mansfield is a consultant specialising in humanitarian assistance and post conflict activities and has worked overseas in Geneva Switzerland and New York before retiring in the Sunshine Coast. Ian and his wife became associated with Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland when his first granddaughter became seriously ill and spent a great deal of time at a Ronald McDonald House. In 2013 Ian became an ambassador for Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland and has taken on the role with great enthusiasm supporting RMHC SEQ in events, speaking engagements and fundraising.

Jarrod Wallace
Gold Coast Titans and Queensland Origin player Jarrod Wallace has been an ambassador for Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland since 2016. Jarrod has been dedicated to lend a helping hand by running ‘Food & Essentials’ drives and visits to the RMHC SEQ guests to brighten their day. Jarrod is well known for his community work and brings with him commitment, enthusiasm and positivity to engage with the organisation and its guests.
