Our staff and volunteers are committed to providing programs to enhance the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families.

Our 200 Volunteers are the “heart” of the House and the Family Room but we are always looking for other passionate and dedicated people to help. Contact our Volunteer Manager at ourhouse.monash@rmhc.org.au for more information about how you can get involved.

OUR BOARD MEMBERS

In 2017 it was decided that Ronald McDonald Houses Monash, Hobart and Parkville will operate under a single combined Board in order to represent a united front for Victoria and Tasmania under the RMHC VicTas banner.

ANTHONY PEARSE - CHAIRMAN

Tony was originally appointed Chairman of Ronald McDonald House Parkville in 2015, after being a Board Member since 2012. Tony is a McDonald’s Licensee in Victoria and a father of four beautiful children.

Having completed a Commerce Degree and a Master of Business Administration, Tony decided to follow in his parents’ footsteps and become a McDonald’s Licensee. Tony has been a Licensee for 11 years, and with McDonald’s since the age of 18. Currently, Tony owns and operates five restaurants across Melbourne.

As well as sitting on the Board, Tony is passionate about Ronald McDonald House Charities and has been on the Board of the Victorian Ronald McDonald House Golf Day for the past 8 years, and has served as Chairman since 2012.

Jamie Evans – Deputy Chairman

Jamie initially joined the Monash House Board in 2006. He started his career with McDonald’s Australia in 1986 as a trainee store manager and has been with the company ever since. His numerous roles have included store manager, Training Consultant, Franchise Consultant and McOPCo Consultant responsible for six stores, and an Owner-Operator since 2004. Jamie also serves on the RMH Victorian Golf Day Committee.

Erin Hempenstall - Treasurer

Erin is a senior finance professional who has had over seven years audit experience with KPMG specialising in public company compliance and assurance.

Currently, Erin works in financial accounting and governance with Australia Post. In this role, Erin provides technical accounting advice and creates accounting policies and procedures for Australia Post.

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Erin is currently completing her studies to become a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Secretaries. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Young Professionals Panel and currently holds the Communications Portfolio.

Sandy Hamilton – Company Secretary

Sandy was originally appointed to the Ronald McDonald House Monash Board in 2006. Formerly a London trained Registered Nurse, she gained Occupational Health & Safety qualifications after migrating to Australia in 1970. Sandy has had extensive OH&S experience across the USA, Asia, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand in her role with DuPont for 13 years; and now her with her own consulting business, which she established in 2000. OH&S Best Practice, legal compliance and behavioural change management are her key areas of focus.

Will Luders – Representative of McDonald’s Owner/Operators

Will was originally appointed as Deputy Chairman of Ronald McDonald House Hobart in 2016, after being a member since 2014. Will is a McDonald’s Licensee in Tasmania and currently owns and operates four McDonald’s restaurants.

Having completed an Accounting degree, Will has worked in a variety of finance and business management roles before coming a McDonald’s Licensee in 2011.

Ben Westover – Representative of McDonald’s Owner/Operators

Ben was originally appointed to the Ronald McDonald House Parkville Board in 2015. Ben joined the McDonald’s business back in 1993 and has worked in a number of restaurant roles. In 2007, Ben became a franchisee and today he owns and operates six McDonald’s restaurants, across Victoria.

In 2008, Ben obtained his MBA and served in a number of fundraising committees for Ronald McDonald House Charities; including as an active participant of the Victorian Ride for Sick Kids.

Michelle Kelly – Representative of McDonald’s Corporate Office

Michelle was first appointed to the Board of Ronald McDonald House Monash in late 2015. She is currently with McDonald’s as a Field Service Manager for Victoria and Tasmania. She brings with her over 16 years of experience in the McDonald’s community and a wealth of knowledge in varying roles. Michelle is a highly motivated individual who has completed a Bachelor of Business Marketing which she adds to her skill set, along with her ability to understand the customer’s needs and engage and lead a team of ten to drive sustainable business performance.

Dr Peter Downie – Representative of Health Providers

Originally appointed to the Ronald McDonald House Monash Board in 2016, Dr Peter Downie is a trained Haematologist (Blood Disorders Specialist), Medical Oncologist (Cancer Specialist), Paediatric Haematologist, Paediatrician and has a practice located in Clayton. Dr Downie is head of Children’s Cancer Centre at Monash Children’s Hospital.

Sheri Waldron – Representative of Health Providers

Sheri was appointed to the Ronald McDonald House Parkville board in December 2012. Sheri started at the Royal Children’s Hospital on 10 West in 1990 before the team moved to the second floor and began ventilating Neonatal infants. She left in 1992 and went back to London for three years before returning to the Neonatal Unit in 1996.

Currently, Sheri is the Director of Clinical Operations at the Royal Children’s Hospital and was appointed in 2010, to oversee the Emergency Department, Paediatric Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care and overall Access Teams.

Mark Hookey – Representative of the Community Sector

Mark was originally appointed to the Ronald McDonald House Parkville Board in 2004, after becoming involved since his daughter was diagnosed with a serious illness and the family became frequent guests of Ronald McDonald House Parkville since 2000.

Mark joined the Australian Defence Force in 1979 and served in a number of positions, mainly in financial management and training roles. After 26 years, he transferred to the Australian Public Service, continuing his service for the Australian Defence Organisation in the personnel administration field.

Jason Wall – Representative of the Community Sector

In 2015, Jason was appointed to the Board of Ronald McDonald House Parkville. His passion for helping the charity via the Ride for Sick Kids, since 2013, has created a desire to be more involved and make a difference.

Jason has over 20 years’ experience in the professional accounting field. He has been a professional advisor to many successful Australian business operations. The specific matters Jason often assists clients with include corporate structuring to maximise asset protection/wealth and legally minimise tax, facilitating business plans, liaising with financiers in relation to funding proposals and ensuring GST compliance.
