OUR PEOPLE

Everyone who contributes to Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland Herston plays a vital role in what we do. Without them we would not be able to help the families who stay with us.

OUR VOLUNTEERS

Our volunteers are the heart of our programs. The families we help require a wide range of services and support which is why we rely on Volunteers with many different skills that can help us meet their needs. We depend on our team of dedicated volunteers to help us run our programs and support families going through some of the toughest times. RMH SEQ has a selection of diverse and rewarding volunteer opportunities across our programs to suit your interests and meet the needs of seriously ill children and their families.

We have over 30 different volunteer positions in areas such as:

    • Guest Services Support
    • Learning Program Support
    • Child & Family Entertainment
    • Event Support
    • Cooking/ Baking
    • Family Room Supervisor
    • Friends Committee
    • Cleaning / Gardening
    • Fundraising Support

Volunteers have the choice of working in Brisbane at the South Brisbane House, Herston House, Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, Learning Program or in the Family Rooms at Gold Coast University Hospital. No matter the role, our volunteers make a valuable contribution. When you volunteer at RMH SEQ, you become part of a global community which is recognised and admired throughout the world.

ABOUT OUR BOARD 

The Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland is an independently incorporated body run by a Board of Directors. The Board structure is made up of membership from three key areas; these are Community Members, Hospital and Health Representatives and McDonald’s Representatives. Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland is a chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities (Australia) RMHC network of programs. RMHC is part of the global Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland is the largest Ronald McDonald House Chapter in Australia, with a Board of Directors who set the strategic direction for the SEQ programs. These include two Houses, two Family Rooms, management of the Queensland and Northern Territory Learning Program and the 10 overnight accommodation rooms in Lady Cilento Children's Hospital.

OUR AMBASSADORS 

Josh McGuire
Brisbane Broncos and Queensland Origin player Josh McGuire is well known for his community work. He has been an ambassador for Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland for the past few years and his enthusiastic participation and engagement with RMH SEQ and the guests demonstrates the seriousness and dedication with which he approaches the position of ambassador.

Ian Mansfield 
Ian Mansfield is a consultant specialising in humanitarian assistance and post conflict activities and has worked overseas in Geneva Switzerland and New York before retiring in the Sunshine Coast. Ian and his wife became associated with Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland when his first granddaughter became seriously ill and spent a great deal of time at a Ronald McDonald House. In 2013 Ian became an ambassador for Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland and has taken on the role with great enthusiasm supporting RMH SEQ in events, speaking engagements and fundraising.
