Ronald McDonald House Canberra opened on Friday November 16 2012 on Level 2 of the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. The convenient location of the House inside the hospital ensures antenatal patients are cared for and nursing mothers are close by their baby’s side 24 hours a day.
The House features 11 ensuite guestrooms for families including double, single & disability access. In addition the House offers families communal facilities such as a full kitchen, dining room, lounge room, laundry, a Quiet Room and 2 computer nooks.
Our Volunteers ensure our House is manned 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They go above and beyond to ensure our ‘Big Red Doors’ continue to stay open for those families in need.
We supply a variety of resources to make our families stay with us a little more comfortable including food, beverage, toiletries, linen & love!
2016 ACT TELSTRA BUSINESS CHARITY AWARD WINNER
Ronald McDonald House Canberra has recently been named the 2016 ACT Telstra Business Charity Award winner. In its inaugural year, this award recognises the contribution of work carried out by charity organisations in our community.
We are humbled to be chosen as the recipient of this award for 2016. Our work in supporting the Canberra community and surrounding NSW regions is vital in us being able to deliver our mission of supporting families of seriously ill children.
Since opening our big red doors in October 2012, we have achieved our mission through delivering programs and seeing the results of our hard work and dedication;
- our big red doors welcoming 1047 families,
- 8203 room nights provided to these families,
- 110 volunteers who are the heart of our house,
- our longest family stay of 131 nights,
- 43 Ronald McDonald Learning Program students in the ACT & Riverina,
- 830+ visitors each month to our Ronald McDonald Family Room; and
- 75 families from throughout Australia that have benefited from our Ronald McDonald Family Retreat at Batemans Bay.
These milestones would not have been achieved without the support of our dedicated staffing team, our 8 voluntary board members, our 110 volunteers, our many sponsors and supporters and Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia, all who work tirelessly day in and day out to ensure the needs of our families and their sick children are met.
