Family Rooms

The Ronald McDonald Family Room, Randwick, at the Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH) is a sanctuary for parents and carers who have a child being treated at the hospital. With the convenience and comfort of a home environment within the Hospital, it gives families the opportunity to take a break away from the ward and spend time together in a relaxing environment. We have a communal kitchen, a dining and lounge area with a television and children’s movies, we also have a laundry, a bathroom and two bedrooms for naps. Guests can help themselves to coffee or tea and make a bite to eat, as well as enjoy homemade cakes made with love by our wonderful Volunteers.

The Family Room is located on Level Two of the new Sydney Children’s Hospital wing (The Ainsworth Building), just opposite the lifts and is open from 8am to 9pm, Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

How Can You Help?

We are always recruiting for Volunteers to be the ‘heart of the home’ and help in all day-to-day operations of the Family Room. Similar to running our own homes, there is always loads to do and Volunteers can contribute in many different ways; such as greeting families, making tea, baking, household chores, and also fundraising. Volunteers will be provided with training and support and become part of our special Volunteer Community.

If you would like more information about Volunteering or other ways to help we would love to hear from you. Please give us a call or send us an email by using the details below.
