Perth Family Room
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are a comfortable retreat for parents and families of children having day treatment at a hospital, and for families with children undergoing longer-term treatment who live close to the hospital. Located within the hospital, family rooms are a place to have a break, cook a meal, relax and unwind.
There are currently three family rooms in Australia:
Princess Margaret Hospital, Perth - 06/06/09
RMHC completely funded the first Family Room which opened in 1997.
John Hunter Hospital Newcastle - 06/06/09
The second Family Room to open. RMHC provided $100,000 towards setting it up. The family room assists between 600 to 700 families per month.
Canberra Hospital, Canberra - 06/06/09
RMHC contributed $300,000 towards its development and it opened in 2005 and provides overnight accommodation for four families as well as communal facilities such as kitchen, laundry and lounge area.
Wodonga Hospital, Wodonga - 09/03/10
RMHC was delighted to open their latest Family Room at Wodonga. This room will support the Special Care Nursery at the Wodonga Hospital and is also in close proximity to the maternity ward making it a perfect haven for new mums. RMHC is very proud of this beautiful facility which will greatly help local and regional families.
