Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are a comfortable retreat for parents and families of children having day treatment at a hospital, and for families with children undergoing longer-term treatment who live close to the hospital. Located within the hospital, family rooms are a place to have a break, cook a meal, relax and unwind.

There are currently three family rooms in Australia:

Princess Margaret Hospital, Perth - 06/06/09

RMHC completely funded the first Family Room which opened in 1997.

John Hunter Hospital Newcastle - 06/06/09

The second Family Room to open. RMHC provided $100,000 towards setting it up. The family room assists between 600 to 700 families per month.

Canberra Hospital, Canberra - 06/06/09

RMHC contributed $300,000 towards its development and it opened in 2005 and provides overnight accommodation for four families as well as communial facilities such as kitchen, laundry and lounge area.
