Visiting the Family Room

Take a break and be together as a family at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at John Hunter Children’s Hospital NICU.

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while you have an infant receiving treatment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at John Hunter Children’s Hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where you’ll find a kitchen stocked with essentials, a cosy lounge and a children’s play space.  The NICU Family Room also includes 2 overnight emergency accommodation rooms.

Eligibility

We want to make sure parents of newborn babies needing extra care have a home-away-from-home inside the Hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Room is free and open to all families who have an infant receiving care in the NICU at John Hunter Children’s Hospital.

Fees

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are free of charge. Thanks to generous donations from the community, families have a space away from the wards to recoup and simply be together.
