RMHC History
RMHC arrives Australia

The first Ronald McDonald House outside North America opened in 1981 at Camperdown, Sydney, near the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children. Families from across NSW and countries including New Zealand, New Caledonia, Fiji, Tonga, Malaysia and Burma were cared for at the House during its 14 years of service.

Four years later McDonald’s Australia established Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia.

In 1986 Australia saw its second Ronald McDonald House open in Parkville, Victoria.
